Camera

HandSynth asks for camera access only when you press Begin with the camera input selected. Video frames are processed by a hand tracking model inside your browser and discarded immediately. No frame, image or landmark data is sent to any server. Stopping the instrument or closing the tab releases the camera.

Microphone

HandSynth never requests the microphone. Recording captures the synth's own audio output, and the file is created and downloaded on your device.

MIDI

If you enable MIDI out, the browser asks for MIDI permission and HandSynth sends notes to the port you choose. No MIDI data is stored or transmitted elsewhere.

Analytics

We use a self-hosted instance of Umami, a cookie-free analytics tool, to count page views, referrers, browser type, country and page speed. It does not use cookies, store IP addresses or identify individuals.

Local storage

Settings such as mode, key and sound can be carried in the page URL when you copy a setup link. The site does not use cookies or local storage for tracking.

External links

The instruments hub links to third-party sites whose privacy practices are their own.
